The aim of the current study is to present a summary of research regarding Internet-Based cognitive behavioral therapy(iCBT) for social anxiety disorder. A total of 20 academic articles that examine the efficacy or effectiveness of iCBT in socially anxious adults were included. The study focuses on reviewing studies that varied across therapist guidances towards iCBT program and discusses the optimal level of guidance that yields the maximum treatment effect. Furthermore, this study throughly summarizes therapeutic elements and homework for different iCBT programs and investigates how these are delivered to clients through an online setting. Last but not least, the study examines articles that provide additional therapeutic element other than iCBT in order to promote treatment effect and discusses whether actual enhancement occurred. Throughout this review, we propose the most effective and efficient way of providing an iCBT program. Limitations and future challenges are discussed.
